The Honorable Francis X. Kelly Jr. is the chairman and CEO of Kelly & Associates Insurance Group in Hunt Valley, Md. Kelly was a member of the Maryland General Assembly from 1979 to 1991, took a leading role in creating the University System of Maryland, privatizing the University of Maryland Hospital, as well as establishing the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The prolific civic activist serves on numerous boards and commissions that are primarily focused on University and higher education matters, including: chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Community College of Baltimore County; chairman of the Shock Trauma Board of Visitors; member of the Board of Directors of the University of Maryland Medical System; member of the University System of Maryland Board of Regents; and vice chairman of the Morgan State University Board of Regents. He has also been named "Entrepreneur of the Year" of Loyola College's Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Society; named one of the top Irish business leaders in the United States; and is a member of the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame
